With the rise in the number of cyber/ransomware attacks targeting schools and organisations in recent months, here’s some easy ways to protect your data:
- Security Awareness Training – Awareness training ensures users are aware of the threats out there and substantially reduces the risk of end-users clicking on phishing emails. There are many great tools available to help you with online security awareness training, simulated phishing or policy management.
- Enforce Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) on your publicly accessible applications and services. MFA protects your data by ensuring all users successfully present two or more pieces of evidence (or factors) to an authentication mechanism.
- Offline Backups – Should the worst happen, make sure you have a recovery plan in place. Back up any “mission critical” VMs/data on Tape, RDX or even just a removable USB which can be locked away.
