With the rise in the number of cyber/ransomware attacks targeting schools and organisations in recent months, here’s some easy ways to protect your data:
- Security Awareness Training – Awareness training ensures users are aware of the threats out there and substantially reduces the risk of end-users clicking on phishing emails. There are many great tools available to help you with online security awareness training, simulated phishing or policy management.
- Enforce Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) on your public facing interfaces. MFA protects your data by ensuring all users successfully present two or more pieces of evidence (or factors) to an authentication mechanism.
- Offline Backups – Should the worst happen, make sure you have a recovery plan in place. Back up any “mission critical” VMs/data on Tape, RDX or even just a removable USB which can be locked away.
