On Wednesday 21 June 2017, we hosted a very busy IT security seminar in response to the recent rise in IT security threats. Attended by local schools and organisations, delegates were updated on the evolving threat landscape and the best practice and approaches to protect critical data and networks from leading security industry companies Smoothwall, Webroot and InfoSec.

Medhurst’s Gareth Davies opened the event with an Introduction to IT Security for schools and businesses – the evolving threat landscape and the best practice and approaches to protect critical data and networks.
This was followed by Emma Mitchell from Smoothwall with a presentation on the current advice on Schools’ Online Safety responsibilities from experts in Online Safety and school policy, outlining Prevent Duty compliance and practical guidance on how to be proactive. Available here
Sham Miah at Webroot updated delegates on the current threat landscape and how cyber criminals are using different vectors of attack to deliver dangerous payloads and monetizing the cybercrime. Available here
Our seminar was concluded by Mark Payne from InfoSec who discussed Cyber Security Awareness – today’s cyber threats and how to stop your end users causing security incidents. Available here
