Attended by IT Managers from over 30 schools, the Microsoft and Medhurst education seminar held recently at Microsoft’s Reading Campus was a huge success.
Delegates saw presentations from Medhurst’s Managing Director, Charlie Baynes and Microsoft’s Julian Datta and Sean O’Shea, who provided technical overviews of the current virtualisation software and technology available to the education market, as well as delivering an introduction to the newly implemented Enrolment for Education Solutions (EES).
With a focus on Microsoft’s Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 and the benefits of cloud technology and the recently launched Windows 7 and Office 2010, delegates were introduced to ways of improving server utilisation whilst reducing costs.
Richard Markey, IT Director at Havant Academy in Hampshire delivered an overview of his experiences of Hyper-V Virtualisation technology. He highlighted how working with Medhurst enabled Havant Academy to improve the performance and reliability of the school’s ICT whilst reducing the costs associated with hardware, power usage and heating.
Question and answer sessions with technical staff at Medhurst and Microsoft provided an opportunity for delegates to discuss obstacles and achievements and receive advice on the issues surrounding ICT in education.
The Education team at Medhurst would like to thank all that attended and details of future events will be available soon.
